Celebrating Two Years of Growth with NetSuite at Sonic Packaging

In January of 2022, Sonic Packaging embarked on a digital transformation by implementing NetSuite, a robust, cloud-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. As we celebrate the two-year anniversary of this significant milestone, it’s time to reflect on the progress and growth Sonic achieved with the support of NetSuite and our channel partner Net at Work.

As an innovative turnkey packaging solutions provider, our commitment and focus are both customers and manufacturing partners. The ongoing optimization of processes across the organization through NetSuite provides our team members the opportunity to dedicate more time to surpassing client needs. This involves diligent collaboration within the organization, with clients and manufacturing partners, to foster strong relationships. 

Prior to adoption, operations did not perform at the caliber or pace they could have been. Harry Paulison, Chief Operating Officer, recalls the challenges the company faced before adopting NetSuite, stating, “We were operating with a conglomeration of disconnected applications.” This disconnect hindered many processes throughout the organization. Paulison knew in order to achieve and pursue continued growth, operational excellence and provide our team with more time to focus on clients and suppliers, a comprehensive, cloud-based program was necessary to achieve and sustain greater results now and into the future.

Since adoption, Sonic Packaging has witnessed a substantial increase in operational efficiency. The impact extends across multiple facets, including Finance, Accounting, Project Management, Quality and Regulatory, Business Development, Sales, and Analysis. Processes such as quote generation and product delivery have been streamlined, service, support and project management activities enhanced, and with more robust reporting and analytics, the organization is more data driven.

Utilizing the CRM functionality within NetSuite has allowed Business Development to seamlessly process transactions within the system, nearly eliminating the need for external programs. This integration delivers project visibility from beginning to end for all groups, while providing valuable insights into conversion and other analytics for strategic planning. Custom reporting capabilities have proven invaluable, simplifying data analysis, and offering granular insights for solving discrepancies. The user-friendly interface of NetSuite, coupled with a global search function, has made navigating records and obtaining information more efficient. Saved searches serve as reminders on the dashboard, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) facilitate scrutinizing results for making informed decisions. Paulison highlighted the significance of NetSuite by stating “our ability to capture a vast number of metrics allows us to see progress in real time and understand our business better to then make more informed decisions in a number of areas.”

Helen Belevan, Manager of Project Management, emphasized the significance NetSuite has made within her team and the organization, noting, “I can now identify and resolve issues in NetSuite faster than ever, project coordinators have enhanced project visibility, and production capabilities have improved significantly. Improvements in processes for inventory management, date coordination and optimization, and transactional efficiency allows us to further prioritize the focus on our suppliers and customers.”

The dream of being a data-driven organization is no longer a dream; Sonic Packaging is living it. As we look ahead, we continue to optimize and customize the solution with further improvements including Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), customizations, scripts, and the use of Artificial Intelligence.
