Reducing Contamination Risks Through A Value-Added Swab Blister Pack Delivery System

Dry swabs have long been used for a variety of applications, including clean room, diagnostics, forensics, personal care and cleaning. While the dry swab fulfills a practical purpose in all of these settings, many customers looked for pre-saturated swabs that would improve ease-of-use with pre-measured dosing and eliminate contamination issues that occur from dipping the applicator into a solution.

Until recently, that meant using a pre-saturated swab in a pouch or sachet, with both the shaft and the handle immersed in the liquid solution. The wet handle made the product difficult to use, especially if the solution was potent.

Fortunately, a new delivery system has been developed that eliminates both contamination and ease-of-use concerns. The swab blister pack consists of an individual chamber and foil lid that keeps the shaft and saturated lid separate from the handle. The blister pack’s hermetically sealed lid creates a barrier that keeps the shaft dry until point of use.

This packaging system, driven by customer demand, is cost efficient and can be used a wide variety of applications, such as:

Forensics: An applicator can contain an active ingredient that changes color when it comes in contact with a substance, such as drugs, at a crime scene.

Personal Care: The blister pack can contain an anti-fungal product or could be used with a makeup remover or other face applications.

Electronics/Cleaning: The blister pack swabs could contain a cleaning agent ideal for use on computer keyboards, motherboards, monitors, cell phones, projectors and more.
